1. Goal
To practice students’ reading and speaking ability and to know what to say when congratulating others
2. Objectives
Terminal objectives:
Students will know how to congratulate others in English.
Enabling objectives:
(1)Students will memorize vocabularies and phrases related to congratulating others.
(2) Students will correctly read out sentences related to congratulating others.
(3) Students will understand the dialogue talking about congratulating others.
3. Materials and Equipment
An English magazine (beginners’ level), an MP3 player
4. Date/Time/Place: July 14, 2007 / 90 min / Student’s room
5. Procedures
(1) 5 min- warm up
(2) 5 min- review the lesson “watching a DVD at home,” ask student to read out aloud
(3) 10 min- new lesson “congratulating the tennis champion” -vocabularies & phrases
(4) 25 min- new lesson “congratulating the tennis champion”-Part A
Explain the article, practice reading and speaking, role play
(5) 5 min- take a short break
(6) 25 min- new lesson “congratulating the tennis champion”-Part B
Explain the article, practice reading and speaking, role play
(7) 10 min- another short lesson
(8) 5 min- wrap up
